On Wednesday, General Motors announced the highly anticipated release of its latest luxury model. This time, the company is taking a major step towards sustainable transportation by introducing the electric version of its iconic vehicle. The launch is part of GM's ambitious goal to transition to zero-emission passenger vehicles exclusively by the year 2035. This move is expected to significantly reduce carbon emissions and promote a cleaner future for the automotive industry.
When compared to their internal combustion counterparts, electric vehicles require less air to function and therefore, do not require grilles. In the case of this Escalade, there is an illuminating display installed at the front which gives it a more stylish and sophisticated look. This vehicle is designed to accommodate up to seven passengers, with three rows of seats available for use.
The second row of the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ is designed to impress. It features twin captain's chairs with a large center console, providing a comfortable and spacious seating arrangement. However, it is worth noting that Cadillac has chosen not to offer a three-place bench, which may come as a surprise to some. This decision seems peculiar, especially considering that one of the key advantages of an electric SUV is the availability of a big back seat with a flat floor.
The electric Escalade IQ shown in the images is equipped with the optional Executive Second Row Seating package, which further enhances the luxuriousness of the vehicle. The package includes massaging and reclining seats, individual 12.6-inch screens, fold-away tray tables that are sturdy enough to hold a laptop, and a rear-seat Command Center. Additionally, this package adds two extra speakers in each rear headrest, raising the speaker count for the optional AKG Reference stereo from 36 to 40.
Moreover, the power-folding third-row expands the seating capacity of the Escalade IQ to seven, making it ideal for larger families or groups. However, it is essential to note that the backmost row of seats appeared to be more cramped than the one in ICE Escalades during our first look at this early prototype.
Despite this minor drawback, our initial impression of the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ was highly favorable. The vehicle boasts of all the qualities that we expect from Cadillac's best, including a commanding presence, a luxurious interior, and family resemblance to other Cadillac models. The Escalade IQ hits all the right notes, making it a true "Standard of the World" EV in our eyes. Kudos to Cadillac for a job well done!
